Position Overview
FedEx Express is hiring Customs Clearance Agents to process import and export documentation for international air freight shipments at gateway hub facilities. You will prepare customs entries, classify commodities using harmonized tariff codes, calculate duties and taxes, and coordinate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to obtain clearance for inbound international freight. This is an office-based trade compliance role at FedEx Express international gateway stations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit customs entries for inbound international shipments using FedEx proprietary brokerage systems.
- Classify imported commodities using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to determine correct duty rates and trade program eligibility.
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin for accuracy and regulatory completeness.
- Coordinate with CBP officers to resolve customs holds, exams, and documentation deficiencies on detained shipments.
- Process export declarations and screen shipments against denied party lists and restricted destination controls.
Qualifications & Benefits
Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent. Licensed Customs Broker designation preferred or minimum 1 year experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international trade compliance. Knowledge of HTS classification, duty calculations, and CBP entry procedures required.
